Farm Explorer
The land facts a farm valuation starts from — capability, carrying capacity, soils, climate and cadastre — drawn live from the government’s own servers.
Click anywhere on the map — or paste GPS coordinates — and this page queries the government map servers, live and direct, for the land facts a farm valuation starts from: land capability, grazing capacity, soil depth and clay content, long-term rainfall, mapped crop field boundaries, protected agricultural area status, and the Surveyor-General parcel at the point.
The Valuation Discussion Hour hosts none of this data. Every layer and every answer is fetched by your own browser from the publisher — the Department of Agriculture, the DFFE and the ARC — with the source named on every line. If a government server is down, its line will say so rather than serve a stale copy.
This is a starting point, not a substitute for verification: raster values are area averages, the climate grid is roughly 8 km, cadastral boundaries are indicative at small scales, and the water position on a property appears on no public map at all — see the Farm Data Directory for what to verify and where. This page may never be cited as the source of anything.
Sources drawn live: Department of Agriculture provincial Spatial Resource Tools and Climate service (grazing capacity 2018, land-type soil attributes, ARC rainfall surfaces, SG cadastre) · DFFE National Web Based Environmental Screening Tool (land capability 2016, field crop boundaries 2023, protected agricultural areas 2023) · base map © OpenStreetMap contributors. Data remains the property of its publishers and is displayed here with attribution, unmodified, direct from source. Checked as at 24 August 2026.
